In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,55,852 registered voters, of which 1,36,951 were male, 1,28,929 female and 47 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 15,36,894 registered voters in this constituency, of which 7,75,506 were male, 7,61,243 female and 145 of the third gender. In the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, Anantha Venkatarami Reddy of YSRCP won in this constituency beating Prabhakar Chowdary V of TDP by a margin of 28,698 votes which was 17.38% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Prabhakar Chowdary V of TDP was the winner in this seat beating B Gurunatha Reddy of YSRCP by a margin of 9,334 votes which was 6.01% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, B Gurunatha Reddy of INC won this seat defeating Mahalakshmi Sreenivasulu of TDP by a margin of 13,242 votes which was 11.41% of the total votes polled for the seat.
