Demographic profile

There were a total of 1,83,242 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Assembly election, of which 88,892 were male, 94,347 female and 3 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 1,80,913 registered voters, of which 88,892 were male, 92,199 female and 7 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 1,72,005 registered voters in this constituency, of which 84,951 were male, 87,042 female and 12 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 1,68,287 which included 81,957 male, and 86,330 female.

In the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, Anil Kumar Kaile of YSRCP won in this constituency beating Uppuleti Kalpana of TDP by a margin of 30,873 votes which was 19.58% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Uppuleti Kalpana of YSRCP was the winner in this seat beating Varla Ramaiah of TDP by a margin of 1,069 votes which was 0.7% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, D Y Das of INC won this seat defeating Uppuleti Kalpana of TDP by a margin of 6,940 votes which was 4.83% of the total votes polled for the seat.
