Demographic profile

There were a total of 2,46,052 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Assembly election, of which 1,22,762 were male, 1,23,263 female and 27 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,35,435 registered voters, of which 1,22,762 were male, 1,16,650 female and 6 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 2,11,289 registered voters in this constituency, of which 1,07,231 were male, 1,04,051 female and 7 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 1,97,716 which included 99,283 male, and 98,433 female.

In the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, Padmavathy Jonnalagadda of YSRCP won in this constituency beating Bandaru Sravani Sree of TDP by a margin of 46,242 votes which was 23.42% of the total votes cast. In 2014, B Yamini Bala of TDP was the winner in this seat beating Jonnalagadda Padmavathy of YSRCP by a margin of 4,584 votes which was 2.59% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Dr Sake Sailajanath of INC won this seat defeating Pamidi Shamanthakamani of TDP by a margin of 3,176 votes which was 2.12% of the total votes polled for the seat.
