Demographic profile

There were a total of 3,22,799 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Panem Assembly election, of which 1,57,413 were male, 1,65,311 female and 75 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,88,300 registered voters, of which 1,57,413 were male, 1,46,227 female and 69 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 2,80,812 registered voters in this constituency, of which 1,40,247 were male, 1,40,540 female and 25 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 2,27,867 which included 1,12,699 male, and 1,15,168 female.

In the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, Katasani Rambhupal Reddy of YSRCP won in this constituency beating Gowru Charitha Reddy of TDP by a margin of 43,857 votes which was 20.33% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Gowru Charitha Reddy of YSRCP was the winner in this seat beating Katasani Rama Bhupal Reddy of SDLPI by a margin of 11,647 votes which was 5.76% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Katasani Ramabhupal Reddy of INC won this seat defeating Byreddy Rajasekher Reddy of TDP by a margin of 8,914 votes which was 5.73% of the total votes polled for the seat.
