In the 2020 Assembly elections, there were a total of 321111 registered voters, of which 168899 were male, 152192 female and 20 from the third gender. In the 2015 Assembly elections, there were a total of 285342 registered voters, of which 150674 were male, 134653 female and 78 from the third gender. In 2010 elections, there were a total of 231228 registered voters in this constituency, of which 122668 were male and 108560 female and 38 from the third gender.

In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, Pawan Kumar Jaiswal of BJP won in this constituency beating Faisal Rahman of RJD by a margin of 10114 votes which was 4.87% of the total votes cast. In 2015, Faisal Rahman of RJD was the winner in this seat beating Pawan Kumar Jaiswal of BJP by a margin of 19197 votes which was 10.31% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2010 Assembly elections, Pawan Kumar Jaiswal of IND won this seat defeating Faisal Rahman of JDU by a margin of 1649 votes which was 1.3% of the total votes polled for the seat.
