Chandankyari comprises of the following areas of Bokaro district in the North Jharkhand region of Jharkhand: Chandankiyari police station and Gram Panchayats : Bijulia, Alkusa, Buribinor, Khamarbendi, Dhudhigajar, Kura, Dabartupara, Jaitara, Pudru and Sardaha in Chas police station in Baghmar sub-division.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 568.07 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 23°34'19.2"N 86°17'49.9"E.

A total of five Assembly constituencies in the state of Jharkhand share borders with Chandankyari constituency, which are: Bokaro, Baghmara, Dhanbad, Jharia, Sindri. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Purulia district of West Bengal.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, in the 2024 Jharkhand Assembly elections, the estimated voter turnout in this Jharkhand constituency was 74.25%. In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Amar Kumar Bauri of BJP won in this constituency beating Uma Kant Rajak of AJSUP by a margin of 9,211 votes which was 05.17% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Amar Kumar Bauri of JVM was the winner in this seat beating Uma Kant Rajak of AJSU by a margin of 34,164 votes which was 21.34% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Umakant Rajak of AJSU won this seat defeating Amar Kumar Bauri of JVM by a margin of 3,517 votes which was 2.93% of the total votes polled for the seat.
