Demographic profile

There were a total of 2,18,938 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Assembly election, of which 1,15,163 were male, 1,03,762 female and 13 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,25,094 registered voters, of which 1,15,163 were male, 1,05,904 female and 9 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 1,94,242 registered voters in this constituency, of which 1,04,724 were male, 89,517 female and 1 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 1,82,586 which included 98,588 male, and 83,998 female.

In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Aruna Kumar Sahoo of BJD won in this constituency beating Irani Ray of BJP by a margin of 14,855 votes which was 9.54% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Arun Kumar Sahoo of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Lala Manoj Kumar Ray of INC by a margin of 20,867 votes which was 14.58% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Arun Kumar Sahu of BJD won this seat defeating Hemendra Chandra Singh of IND by a margin of 27,341 votes which was 22.11% of the total votes polled for the seat.
