In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Jayanta Kumar Sarangi of BJP won in this constituency beating Maheswar Mohanty of BJD by a margin of 4,008 votes which was 2.57% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Maheswar Mohanty of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Uma Ballav Rath of INC by a margin of 34,721 votes which was 24.17% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Maheswar Mohanty of BJD won this seat defeating Uma Ballav Rath of BJP by a margin of 13,394 votes which was 11.27% of the total votes polled for the seat.
