Demographic profile

There were a total of 2,34,828 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Assembly election, of which 1,20,246 were male, 1,14,538 female and 44 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,43,458 registered voters, of which 1,20,246 were male, 1,17,071 female and 32 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 2,24,358 registered voters in this constituency, of which 1,18,056 were male, 1,06,298 female and 4 of the third gender. In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Jayanta Kumar Sarangi of BJP won in this constituency beating Maheswar Mohanty of BJD by a margin of 4,008 votes which was 2.57% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Maheswar Mohanty of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Uma Ballav Rath of INC by a margin of 34,721 votes which was 24.17% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Maheswar Mohanty of BJD won this seat defeating Uma Ballav Rath of BJP by a margin of 13,394 votes which was 11.27% of the total votes polled for the seat.
