This constituency covers an approximate area of 1173.83 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 23°04'35.4"N 85°16'26.0"E.

In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Nilkanth Singh Munda of BJP won in this constituency beating Sushil Pahan of JMM by a margin of 26,327 votes which was 19.89% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Nilkanth Singh Munda of BJP was the winner in this seat beating Jidan Horo of JMM by a margin of 21,515 votes which was 17.84% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Nilkanth Singh Munda of BJP won this seat defeating Masi Charan Munda of JMM by a margin of 436 votes which was 0.46% of the total votes polled for the seat.
