Demographic profile

There were a total of 2,16,520 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Assembly election, of which 1,12,631 were male, 1,03,880 female and 9 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,09,776 registered voters, of which 1,12,631 were male, 99,673 female and 9 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 1,90,739 registered voters in this constituency, of which 1,02,355 were male, 88,380 female and 4 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 1,80,508 which included 95,876 male, and 84,632 female.

In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Devi Ranjan Tripathy of BJD won in this constituency beating Debasis Patnaik of INC by a margin of 24,118 votes which was 15.01% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Pravata Kumar Tripathy of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Rabindra Kumar Mallick of INC by a margin of 43,758 votes which was 29.93% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Pravata Kumar Tripathy of BJD won this seat defeating Debasis Patnaik of INC by a margin of 23,445 votes which was 18.16% of the total votes polled for the seat.
