In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Souvic Biswal of BJD won in this constituency beating Nayan Kishore Mohanty of BJP by a margin of 22,103 votes which was 16.12% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Pravat Ranjan Biswal of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Suresh Mohapatra of INC by a margin of 41,385 votes which was 31.79% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Pravat Ranjan Biswal of BJD won this seat defeating Deepak Kumar Barik of IND by a margin of 32,777 votes which was 31.68% of the total votes polled for the seat.
