In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Suryamani Baidya of BJD won in this constituency beating Bharati Behera of BJP by a margin of 41,545 votes which was 28.93% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Purna Chandra Sethy of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Pandaba Jalli of INC by a margin of 57,194 votes which was 45.48% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Purna Chandra Sethy of BJD won this seat defeating Kasinath Behara of INC by a margin of 44,629 votes which was 46.52% of the total votes polled for the seat.
