Demographic profile

There were a total of 2,09,710 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Rourkela Steel Nagar, Ispat Nagar Assembly election, of which 1,06,697 were male, 1,02,965 female and 48 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,06,068 registered voters, of which 1,06,697 were male, 99,113 female and 31 of the third gender. In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Sarada Prasad Nayak of BJD won in this constituency beating Nihar Ray of BJP by a margin of 10,430 votes which was 8.13% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Dilip Kumar Ray of BJP was the winner in this seat beating Sarada Prasad Nayak of BJD by a margin of 10,929 votes which was 8.86% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Sarada Prasad Nayak of BJD won this seat defeating Ramesh Kumar Agrawal of BJP by a margin of 25,596 votes which was 29.61% of the total votes polled for the seat.
